Ciao
So, a new year dawns in another new city. As far as beachside cities go, “Newie” has lots going for it, including the most splendid ocean baths I’ve come across. Nostalgia for Italia can strike when you least expect it, but even Silvio’s welcome exit isn’t enough to pull me back just yet. And hey, there’s a gelateria six steps from home, and if I let my imagination run wild I can convince myself the dome on top of the old post office could sit splendidly on any given church in Rome. Here’s to summer and the season of Campari spritz finally arriving – salute.
